Identity at The SPACE is part of a two-site project and Identity in Dordrecht takes place in November 2018. Identity is curated by Christine Gist and Yvo van der Vat in response to Dordrecht’s city wide events 2018-2019 to mark the 400th anniversary of the Synod of Dordt, an international religious assembly 1618-1619.

On and off-site artists-led workshops were organised for children and adults. Year 4 pupils from Ark Castledown Primary Academy worked with 2 Dutch artists to create drawings and collages which explored the meaning of identity. Other creative workshops have taken place with ‘Bulgarians in Hastings and St Leonards’ and free drop-in painting sessions for children from St Johns Road playground.

Identity has been realised with the support of The National Lottery through Arts Council England, Hastings Borough Council and The Lions Club of Hastings through Tempo Arts.
